Meet Aaron Fotheringham, a 16-year-old taking his wheelchair where no man has gone before. Last weekend he nabbed himself a Guinness World Record as the first person to ever perform a backflip in a wheelchair. He's actually been performing flips since 2006, but had never before made it official with the premier World Record bookkeepers. Fotheringham has spina bifida and has been confined to a wheelchair since the age of 13, but hasn't let that stop him from being a star of the skate park.
The trick is just as hard as it sounds, demanding perfect approach speed and timing on a skate ramp. Bad timing and Fotheringham lands hard on his head - and it happens. When he's not flipping his chair, Fotheringham competes in freestyle BMX competition doing tricks in his wheelchair. He placed first in the BMX advanced division. So we can chalk him up as doubly Mantastic.

What an inspirational young man, Aaron Fotheringham is. Not only is he doing something he obviously enjoys a great deal he is also showing other children & adults that being in a wheel chair certainly doesnt have to slow you down. Congrats Aaron, great job.
