Any visitor to Wales will have seen many a sign offered in both English and Welsh, and to the untrained observer this particular sign looks just like any other. But to Welsh readers, it was instantly clear something went very wrong in translation. While the first part reads "No entry for heavy goods vehicles. Residential site only" the Welsh section reads "I am not in the office at the moment. Send any work to be translated".Yes, turns out the error was in the e-mails, as the translator was, as they clearly mentioned in Welsh, out of the office. With a lack of any Welsh readers to understand the reply message, a whole world of sign FAIL was sure to follow. Full story, including more examples of Welsh-English sign confusion, at BBC News.
