If you ever fall off a roof after being attacked by hornets, you might think you've met your pain quota for the day. Sadly life is not that kind. While retrieving a radio from the roof of his summer home, Donigan was attacked by a swarm of hornets, causing him to fall and break his pelvis, his wrist and his back in four places.
To make matters worse, Donigan landed at the bottom of a 100-foot hill, which he had to crawl all the way up to get back to his house.
Once he reached it, sixteen hours later, the pain was too great to attempt climbing his stairs. It was only the next morning when he could bring himself to scale the eight required steps and make it inside.
When he was able to grab his phone, Donigan called for an ambulance, and then called his employer. If you're wondering why the second call wasn't to his wife, it's probably because she had specifically forbidden him from painting from the roof by himself.
