A woman from the Chinese province of Sichuan boiled a man's head in a soup because she believed it would remedy her daughter's mental problems, according to a local newspaper. Lin Zongxiu, whose daughter suffered for years from psychiatric illness, heard about the cure in 2008, perhaps from the best-selling book, Human Head Soup for the Soul. The Chengdu Commercial newspaper reported that Lin hired a man to knock out a drunken passerby and behead him, then fed her daughter a soup made from the man's head and duck.
It is unclear whether the treatment worked, but the killer was sentenced to death and Lin was convicted of tampering charges, proving that it's hard to get a head in this world.
