Rick Rolling just took on a whole new vibe, with a young Aussie developer accidentally unleashing a virus upon the unsuspecting world of vacuous iPhone users.

The average iPhone user need not fear. It's actually all those folks who got clever and started jailbreaking iPhones to run unofficial software. Turns out that process can open a security hole and the worm, ikee, can install itself then sniff out other iPhones to install to over wireless connections.

In this case, the worm is doing nothing more than changing the phone's lock screen to a picture of Rick Astley. But the 21-year-old Wollongong writer of the experiment has now realised how big the test has become, and just how much legal crap he's about to find himself dropped in.

Harmful of not, the real crime here is in the Rick Astley reference. Rick Rolling? That's so 2008.
