The hand of justice has failed again, this time by letting a young boy get off on charges of receiving stolen goods. No, I can't keep the bluster up on this one. Police have dropped charges against a 12-year-old Aboriginal boy who - didn't steal anything, mind - was given a stolen Freddo frog by a friend.
Reports do not indicate whether the Freddo was a traditional milk chocolate variety or one of the fancy options like a strawberry flavoured one, and they're the sort of facts that really would have been make or break in such a serious crime.
With a swathe of media attention the WA police force has realised they were acting like, well, like racists, and have since dropped the charges. The whole incident has now been referred to the state Juvenile Justice Team.
