Hot tip: buy your grandparents a GPS this Christmas.

One poor 80-year-old gent took a wrong turn out of Yass on his way home to Merimbula only to keep driving. Nine hours later he thought it was time to ask a police officer where he was. Turns out he was more than 650km from Yass, and was now well into Victorian territory at Lara, near Geelong.

The officer was kind enough to speak to the man's wife - not exactly the kind of mistake you want to admit to yourself.

When officers asked the man why he hadn't stopped earlier, he told them he just likes to drive. Then again, he is a man. Pretty good odds he just didn't want to admit he was lost.
